Hi Yathus
We know about the request to provide a tool to update the MoRefID for such migrations. But I don't have an ETA yet when we have it as a feature in the product.
Today "Quick migration" is the supported way to migrate VMs between two vCenters with continuing the backup chains.
Rhe requirements is to keep the VM running when you start the quick migration. The option "Delete source VM files upon successful migration" must be enabled in the quick migration wizard. And you must make sure that VMware tools are installed and running.

Best,If you want to delete the VM for which the migration was launched (source VM; for Instant Recovery, this is the VM created during Instant Recovery but before finalization), leave the Delete source VM files upon successful migration check box selected. All jobs to which the VM is added will switch to the target VM. The backup chains will be continued, thus, the next job sessions for the VM will be incremental.
